I’ve known Jessica since 2011, when I started the process in becoming a professional photographer. After deciding who my favorite wedding photographer is in Portland, I took a leap and asked to work with her, and to my surprise, she said yes! I owe a lot of my success to what I learned from her over the years. We shot gorgeous weddings together for many years while I built this family photography brand, and my pet photography business as well. I eventually took over her associate wedding photography brand A Lovely Day Photography in 2019, which has been an amazing experience. (Side note: yes, three branches of my business sounds like quite a lot, but they all have different busy seasons, so it’s not too difficult to keep it balanced. I really just love photographing all three!!) Of course Jessica was the one who photographed my own wedding three years ago- check it out here to see her awesome work, and see my wild and weird wedding that certainly involved llamas, tacos, and thousands of colorful pom poms!
Having Jessica as a mentor has been incredibly valuable for me for my business, but her friendship has meant even more! Knowing her for the last nine years, we have gone through SO much together and I feel so lucky to have this lifelong friend along for the ride with me. We got together recently to photograph her absolutely delightful family in their backyard and on their porch for some pandemic-era socially distant photos at their beautiful home they have been hunkered down together in for the last few months. Just so you know, it’s easy to maintain a 6ft+ distance with the lenses I use, so I can photograph your family safely outdoors anywhere.
Jessica, Evan, and Bridger are so completely radiant, aren’t they? Of course it was so much fun to photograph them in this gorgeous place they have cultivated together and capture a slice of life from these interesting times. Ahh, I love this family!
